7/19/10 Derby Police Department to receive new Automated Fingerprint Identification System
Governor M. Jodi Rell announes the start of a statewide security awareness campaign urging residents and users of public transportation to be alert and prepared to report suspicious activity. For more information, visit: www.keepctsafe.org
DPD recently acquired a Live Scan Booking Station through a grant provided by the State of Connecticut. This automated fingerprint identification system allows our officers to take digital fingerprints of arrestees which are immediately sent electronically to the State of Connecticut Department of Public Safety and the FBI. Our officers receive a response from these agencies within two minutes that confirms the identity of the subject, and also provides their criminal background. This new booking station will be a valuable asset that will expedite the arrest process and increase officer safety by quickly confirming the identity of arrestees.
Vehicle break-in alert (Derby train station users): Residents and Derby train station users should be aware that there continues to be numerous car break-ins at the Derby train station. Do not keep valuable items in your vehicle or where they can be observed from outside the vehicle. Citizens should contact the department to report suspicious activity. If you have any information regarding these break-ins, please contact Investigator Joe Iacuone in the Detective Bureau at 203-619-1908. (Re-Posted 11/3/10)
